Une nuit de printemps, l’appareil ramenant en France le général Marcotte, chef de l’armée, s’écrase dans une île de l’océan Indien. L’enquête officielle organisée sur place tourne court. Ce roman d’aventures et de politique-fiction, conduit sur un rythme haletant, dresse un saisissant tableau du crépuscule de l’ère gaullienne. Mieux qu’un polar politique, un épisode hors série du règlement de comptes historique entre de Gaulle et son armée.
